New York Mercantile Exchange gold futures prices rose for the third day. August contract rose $ 1.4 an ounce to close at $ 1,530.6, an increase of 0.1%.
European Central Bank announced that it will lead euro zone interest rates from the current 1.25% to 1.5%, central bank governor Jean-Claude Trichet hinted that it might continue to take vigorous measures to counter inflation.
